The Faraday Institution is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive environment as it seeks to build and support a world-class energy storage research community through our research and student programmes. The same is true for our conferences and events.

Below we provide examples of the proactive measures we are taking to ensure an inclusive environment for all who attend and are involved in this year’s Faraday Institution Conference.

Choosing a fully accessible conference venue:

  • Accessible entrances and lift access to all floors
  • Hearing loop available
  • Baby changing and feeding facilities
  • Gender neutral toilets
  • Dedicated multi-faith rooms on site
  • Blue Badge/accessible parking bays
  • Provision of quiet rooms will be made available
  • Provision of subtitling will be made available

Other measures:

  • Online tickets will become available nearer the time for those unable to attend in person. If you’d like more information on the virtual elements of the conference, please contact faraday@conferencecollective.co.uk.
  • We will ensure dietary requirements are catered for (provided by delegates via the registration form)
  • We will ensure accessibility requirements are reasonably accommodated (provided by delegates via the registration form)
  • Bursary scheme: To make the Faraday Institution Conference accessible to as many UK-based early career researchers as possible, we will be offering up to 20 bursaries for postgraduate students based at UK academic institutions. Students awarded a bursary will have their conference fee (including conference dinner) waived. Click here to view the eligibility criteria for the Bursary Scheme.
  • Statement on EOI portal: We particularly welcome abstracts from women, who were under-represented in the EOI submissions at previous conferences, as well as those from ethnic minority groups, who typically are under-represented in STEM fields. We endeavour to foster diversity in all its forms, including career stage and specific areas of expertise, to represent the broadest collection of voices and ideas.
  • Selection of two conference committees and panels that select from the EOI submissions, which encompass broad representation across career stages, gender and ethnicity.
  • Consideration of diversity amongst selected invited speakers.

Accessibility information will be provided to delegates in good time ahead of the conference so any advance arrangements can be made. For any queries or to discuss your requirements, please contact faraday@conferencecollective.co.uk.
