Bret Schumacher is a Ph.D. candidate in the Marbella and Steingart groups at Columbia University. His work is focused on using a suite of electrochemical and calorimetric techniques to probe the interplay between performance and safety in high-capacity energy storage systems. He is interested in studying root cause failure in lithium-ion batteries, especially those that are hard to measure. In his free time, Bret enjoys escaping the city, trying new cuisines, and hanging out in Central Park with his friends.
