Dr Zhao Li

Zhao focuses on quantitative operando diagnosis of battery interfacial evolution and degradation. He joined Imperial College London in 2025 within the EPSRC-funded InFUSE Prosperity Partnership, where he works with Mary Ryan and Aigerim Omirkhan and collaborates with Diamond Light Source and Shell to develop in situ and operando approaches and sample environments for buried battery interfaces. He obtained his PhD from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2024 on multiscale synchrotron X-ray characterisation of batteries. In 2024-2025, He worked at the University of Liverpool with Laurence Hardwick’s group on operando Raman studies of lithium-ion cathodes within the Faraday Institution CATMAT project.
