Dr Gifty Mensah

Dr Gifty Serwaa Mensah is a Research Fellow at the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) and serves as the Acting Head of the Academic Planning Department at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, Ghana. She also lectures in the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering at UENR. Before joining UENR, she served as a Project Coordinator and part-time Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She is currently the Faraday Institution’s Battery Ambassador for Ghana for the 2025–2026 cohort.
Dr Mensah holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an MSc in Industrial Ecology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from KNUST, Ghana. Her research focuses on the sustainable management and circularity of end-of-life batteries, energy
access assessment, and waste-to-energy systems.
