Wei Yu received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Tsinghua University (China) in 2018, followed by two years of postdoctoral research there. In 2020, he joined Tohoku University (Japan) and was promoted to Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator in 2025. He is leading a team mainly focusing on the rational design of carbon materials and in situ characterizations for beyond Li-ion batteries. He has published 23 peer-reviewed papers, holds three patents, secured five research grants as PI, and serves on the youth editorial boards of ACS Applied Energy Materials and Energy Materials Devices.
