Gerard Bree is an Assistant Professor in the Battery Materials and Cells group at WMG in the University of Warwick, where he has worked for 6 years. Gerard’s interest in energy storage grew during his time in the photovoltaics industry, and in 2018 he received a PhD from the University of Limerick in the synthesis and application of nanomaterials in lithium-ion batteries. As part of the Faraday Institution Degradation project, his current research activity includes Li-metal batteries, LMFP cathodes and cell manufacturing optimisation. Gerard also engages directly with companies, supporting the UK battery industry to develop materials and manufacturing processes.
