Slack – the Conference platform
The Faraday Institution 2021 Conference is again being delivered via Slack, with live sessions delivered over Zoom. You gain access to the Zoom links via Slack.
We are using the same Slack workspace to deliver the 2021 conference as the 2020 conference. So, if you already have an FI Slack account,
click here and log in as normal.
OR, if you registered for the 2021 conference and acted on the recent invitation to join the Slack workspace,
click here for entry.
How do I access Slack?
If you aren’t already a Faraday Institution Slack user you were sent an invitation from email@example.com to join the Slack workspace on the 1st, 8th, 11th or 15th November (depending on when you registered).
Follow the link in the invitation and you will have access. Be sure to complete your profile to encourage networking. There is a Slack tips and help channel to help you get started.
I can’t get access to Slack
1) Did you register for the conference?
Go to 2)
Please register here. We will endeavour to get you into the Slack workspace for the conference asap (from where you can access links to the live online conference sessions).
We anticipate being very busy on the days of the conference and will prioritise access issues from people who registered prior to the nominal registration deadline of 8th November.

2) Did you receive an invitation to join Slack after registering for the 2021 Conference?
1. but I haven’t clicked the link yet
Click on the link within that email, enter your name and email address and you will have access to the Slack workspace for the conference.
From there you will be able to find the Zoom links to the live conference sessions on the #2021_conference-agenda channel (for the 17-18th November) and the #2021_conference-ecr-day channel for the early career researcher day on the 16th (Faraday Institution community only).
2. I clicked the link but how do I get back to it?
Go to the Slack workspace.
3. but I have forgotten my Slack password
Go to the Slack workspace, type in the email address with which you registered for the conference, and click “Get help signing in.”
This may be because you already have an account in the Faraday Institution Slack workspace. If so, go to the Slack workspace and sign in as normal.
Alternately, please check your Junk folder or spam filters where the email might have been redirected. Search for the subject line FI Event Organiser has invited you to work with them in Slack. These invitations and an email containing further details from firstname.lastname@example.org were sent out on 1st, 8th, 11th or 15th November depending on when you registered.
1. I’ve found it?
Click on the link within that email, enter your name and email address, and you will have access to the conference.
2. I can’t find it?
Please email email@example.com from the email account that you used to register. Use the Subject “Lost”.
If the email account matches our records, we will send a link by reply. Click on the link within that email, enter your name and email address, and you will have access to the conference.
Do not share the link with anyone else.
